Getting Ready Essentials

A few of our favs to make “getting ready” more fun!

The time may be nearing to go through recruitment, but, before then- the prep is all summer long! You can be prepared for recruitment through having essentials on hand, being organized, and having all ducks in a row before moving into your dorm. No matter what school you are attending, these essentials and tricks can help you take one less stress off your plate, and it will help you focus intentionally on having the best recruitment possible!

You will be want to put your best foot forward every day for rush, so it is important that you feel “cute, classy, and confident” each step of the way- not just on bid day.

To start, you will want to be hydrating many days before recruitment starts and hydrating during the process too.

Definitely pick up some liquid IV, LMNTs, or just any of your favorite hydration packets to ensure that you will last through these hot summer days of recruitment. No matter what part of the country you will be in for rush, the hot summer will last through the first few weeks of school, and this will be essential. Bonus! Next, think about how fun it will be to get ready every day! You have been planning your outfits for weeks or months, ensuring to pick the cutest sandals or sneakers to pair with your panhellenic t-shirt and dresses.

You will definitely want a fun playlist for you and your roomie to get ready to! If you don’t have one you love already, here is a great list of songs on this spotify playlist: Getting Ready Playlist

Let's dive into some products that will help you feel confident and ready each day:

A great base to hold your makeup from start to finish: you will definitely want to layer a primer under any makeup so we can avoid it melting away in the summer heat. These two are great options at various price points:

$25: Bobbi Brown Primer

$16: Photo Finish Primer

To pair with that, at the completion of your makeup, finish with a great setting spray to seal the deal before applying your lipgloss!

$17: Urban Decay Setting Spray

On to makeup and hair!

When doing your hair, if you don’t have a set of tools you love already, we recommend this one (linked below) because of it’s three-in-one component that can give you multiple hairstyles and textures for the price of one tool! I have had this for years, and I loved it throughout college, too!

Lastly, hair spray, of course, to ensure your fresh blowout or curls will be staying all day each day in the thick of summer heat!

$22 and will last all semester long: Hairspray Suggestion!

Now, since your hair and makeup products are ready to pair with your normal routine, you will need a getting ready outfit, too!

Our best suggestion is a robe for getting ready so that you do not have to slip anything over your hair and makeup when it is time to put your dresses on. We think this robe would be the perfect addition into getting ready now, for recruitment, and later, for all your fun date parties and events!

Robe Link!

This one is perfectly customizable with your name or monogram so that it doesn’t get mixed up with any others!

Additionally, we think this would be the best “move in” gift for your new roomie! Easily ship it to her house for her topack with her, or, you could totally surprise her with it on move-in day as a special happy, and essential, for recruitment.

Lastly, we know you have your outfits picked out and ready to go, but make sure they are steamed out too. This tool is the best and will be an essential not just for recruitment, but truly for years to come: Nori Steam Iron

Lastly, you can finish with your favorite gloss, perfume, and jewels! If you haven’t found your signature scent yet, this is a great set to try out a few and throw them in your recruitment bag to stay fresh all day:

We know you are equipped to take on recruitment with a big smile and lots of excitement, and we hope this post can help you think of extra little things that will make the getting ready process seamless and fun!
