Four simple reminders to make the most of YOUR four years!!!

HOW TO BE A “YES” GIRL AND NOT GET OVERWHELMED!

Ladies, we all know these four years of college will fly. Whether you just stepped into this new season, or you have a couple of years under your belt, I am sure that it sometimes seems as though there are not enough hours in the day.

Being a leader, making new friends, settling in away from home, and of course prioritizing class success is just the beginning of a long list of things you have going on.

I know it is easy in college to want to do everything which sometimes may lead to feeling depleted and empty. You are much more than what you accomplish each day and how many tasks you fulfill, so I have a few tips I want to share that can help you lead towards a balanced life to the fullest!

You don’t have to say “yes” every hour of every day! You may have friends that are off to do something that seems extraordinary for a random Tuesday in September, but, maybe you have a test the next day that you can’t (and shouldn’t) skip studying for.

1.) Plan your week ahead, and plan when you can be a “yes” girl!

This tip is really practical. Maybe, Sunday nights you can spend 20 minutes jotting down everything you know is going on the week ahead. Visualize your blocks of free time, and your blocks of busyness. Then, allow yourself blocks of time each day to be available and say “yes” to anything that comes up. You will feel prepared and productive in the time that you have set aside to get work done, that when you’re freeto be with friends and be spontaneous- you won’t have to worry about lingering to-dos!

2. Start your day with positivity!

Nothing says productivity like positivity. You don’t have to fib and say you’re always okay if you need an extra hand, but starting each day with gratitude and positivity will lead you to noticing the blessings in your life even when they are hard to find.

Recruitment Ready provides a -free- gratitude journal template that is ready for you to tackle each day: (linked below)!!!

If you’re a believer in Christ, you may want to prioritize this time in the Word, praying for different aspects of your life, and seeking positivity in each step of the way. You will be a better friend when your cup is filled with goodness!

3. You can be the invitation!

Girl, you don’t have to wait for anyone! If you have some time in your day and are ready to meet a new friend, throw a message in your pledge class group chat and see who is free to meet for coffee or a sonic run. It does not matter if you’re a freshman and do not know everyone yet, or a senior in college- there will always be value in extending a hand to someone outside of your everyday circles. The best part is you’ll have one extra face on campus that can be a friend, and that you can be a friend for!

4. Do the mundane with friends!

Now, maybe grocery shopping alone or running to fill up your car with gas is what you prefer for your alone time, and that is A-okay! However, if you are ever feeling like there is not enough time in the day to be social alongside your responsibilities, think about the mundane everyday things that may just be better with a friend. If you want to cook a new recipe, see who’s around to go grab ingredients with you.

Also- everyone has to do laundry, so maybe you and your friend on the hall plan to do it together and spend time catching up in between loads! You can think outside the box to make those normal everyday moments special.

These are just a few ideas that can help keep you grounded in a busy season of life! It is not a mistake to want to do it all- but you want to do it all at your very best. Having a sweet support system through your chapter, and on campus will help fill your cup daily. You can do this, and say “yes” to all the goodness of college!

We hope this blog post helps you feel more equipped to tackle college life! We believe in you!!! If you found this post helpful, send it to a friend!!!
