Living in Palm Beach for a month…

If you have been following along the Recruitment Ready Instagram, you know my husband and I lived in palm beach for 5 weeks recently!

Recruitment Ready is based in Atlanta, Georgia and we zoom with clients across the country…

Moving to Palm Beach was a lot like moving to a new college town (which many of our girls will do soon)!

Save this post for your next palm beach trip or as an encouragment in making the move!

This picture was taken the same day we opened the 2023 Recruitment Ready packages for 2023! SUCH an exciting day!!!!

1.) Where did we stay? We rented an air b n b on the intercostal way! We found the listing in November of 2022 and booked it then. Fun fact: we did NOT have a dishwasher (which reminds me of the freshman year of college days!!)

2.) Why did we do this? Fun fact: I am married to a life coach and we are all about goal setting. "living at the beach” has always been a goal of mine so we started working towards that goal & planned ahead 14 months in advance!

3.) Why did we pick palm beach specifically? We picked Palm Beach because I was familiar with the area from touring Palm Beach Atlantic University back when I was touring colleges in high-school. It’s a BEAUTIFUL, fun area & it’s actually warm in the winter so we went for it!

I highly recommend renting a moke! You can easily rent it through The Rosemary Square in West Palm Beach!

Okay! It’s no secret when you move towns you HAVE to be willing to try new things! Soon-to-be college girls…this applies to you, too!

Here are 5 NEW things we tried & loved…

1.) We went to Surf Side Diner every Sunday!

2.) We went to Pura Vida atleast once a week!

3.) We went to Lola 41 for sushi and really loved it! (Fun fact: they only have locations in Palm Beach and Nantucket)!

4.) We went to the public beach access on palm beach every Saturday afternoon. You can easily park along the street and use the park mobile app to pay! It’s simple!

5.) We went to the farmers market in West Palm every Saturday and it was AMAZING! The crepes and the fresh made salsa vendors were two particular favorites!

Although most nights were very low key (we cooked in 5 nights a week)… we did have a lot of fun when guests came in town!

The “fancy” places we loved were: The Breakers (go to Mary Lily’s for dessert and sit in the courtyard to people watch), The Colony, Palm Beach Grill, Buccan, Le Bilboquet, Worth Avenue (especially the Lily Pulitzer store) & The White Elephant hotel!

I kept telling my husband I “fell in love with life” all over again while in Palm Beach. Is that dramatic?!

I loved the slower pace of life we had. Much different than the traffic and hustle of Atlanta!

Speaking of slowing down….we also walked EVERY WHERE! I did not bring my car..and a lot like the college days, walking is such a fun way to get steps in!

Y’all not kidding when I say we went to Pura Vida or Field of Greens once a week!

The best part of it all was that we set a goal and went for it, we tried a new city and we got out of our comfort zone….

It was also so fun hosting my friends of 25 years towards the end of our stay!

Add The Ben Hotel to your list for the views of the water. They are simply amazing!

Here is a quick encouragement to the girls making a move to a college town soon that I learned from living somewhere new!

1.) Independence: A major aspect of both moving to Palm Beach and college is gaining more independence. For high school girls, moving away from home for the first time can be a daunting thought. However, it is also an opportunity to gain new levels of independence and responsibility, such as managing your finances, making decisions about your daily routine!

Whether you're living on your own in Palm Beach or navigating college life, you will learn how to be self-sufficient and make important decisions for yourself. Go girl! I am cheering you on!

2.) Enjoy the new environment: One of the most striking similarities between moving to Palm Beach and moving to college is that both entail adapting to a completely new environment, quickly! In both cases, you are moving to a new place where you may not know anyone ( or just a couple girls), and you need to learn how to navigate all the NEW!

Google your local Target, ask locals for help, put directions in maps for the first couple weeks, walk everywhere on campus until you learn your favorite route!

3.) New Opportunities: Another similarity between moving to Palm Beach and college is the wealth of new opportunities that await you. College offers countless opportunities to explore new interests and hobbies, such as clubs, sororities, organizations, and extracurricular activities. NEW can be hard, but it can also be so fun and so rewarding!

4.) Leaving Home: Finally, both moving to Palm Beach and college require leaving the comfort of your family and hometown behind. For many high school girls, this can be a bittersweet experience.

While it is exciting to start a new chapter in your life, it can also be difficult to leave behind the people and places that have been familiar to you for so long. However, they will be there right when you get back eager to hear all the NEW you encountered!
